BIOGRAPHY OF
HONOREE,

Gregg Korrol

Gregg Korrol was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where he proudly came up through the District 21/22 school system—attending PS 195, Mark Twain, and Midwood High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from SUNY Stony Brook and a Master’s in Instructional Technology. Though education wasn’t part of his original plan, it quickly became his passion and life’s work.

Over the past 31 years with the New York City Department of Education, Gregg has been a teacher at PS 225, Assistant Principal at PS 90, and, for the past two decades, Principal of PS 101, The Verrazzano School, in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.

A respected leader and advocate for educational excellence, Gregg has served on The Chancellor’s Advisory Team under five different Chancellors, including the current one, as well as on numerous Department of Education committees. Under his leadership, PS 101 has earned multiple honors, been featured in Forbes Magazine and on ABC News, and received the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Award—recognizing schools of exemplary academic achievement. Gregg credits these successes to his extraordinary team of educators, led by Assistant Principals Elisa Kane, Patti Percaccio, and Kevin Damiano, whose passion and dedication bring the school’s vision to life every day.

Beyond his work in education, Gregg is deeply passionate about personal growth and the power of mindset. His philosophy centers on understanding why we do what we do—and helping others discover opportunities by shifting their focus, physiology, and language. He is the author of the acclaimed bestselling book The Gifted Storyteller: The Power Is in the Story You Tell, which inspires readers to reflect on their lives and unlock greater positivity, success, and joy.

Gregg’s greatest source of pride is his 16-year-old daughter, Maya, along with his family and friends, whom he credits for keeping him grounded, supported, and inspired. He also extends heartfelt gratitude to the countless educators who have shaped his journey and exemplified excellence in education.
